Top Ten Holiday Celebrations in Orlando, FL
Today I am kicking off my series, the 10 best holiday celebrations in Florida. Our first stop is Orlando. There is so much to do in this town; the choices are overwhelming. Here I have boiled it down to my favorite events:
Festival of the Trees at Orlando Museum of Art- Gorgeous decorated Christmas trees in a beautiful setting at the museum. Local musical groups and dance troupes perform and there is a great holiday shop.
Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild- A fun and beautifully lit walk through the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens. There can be nothing better than animals and lights.
Holidays in Space- Head over to the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex-there is always something fun happening there. This attraction is available select dates from 12/21-12/30.
Oh, What Fun! Holiday Festival in Lake Nona- This beautiful up and coming town always has something going on in the Boxi Park area. Lake Nona’ s holiday festival takes place on select dates between 12/5-12/21
Dazzling Lights at Harry P. Leu Gardens- Starting right after Thanksgiving (12/28) you can explore the gorgeous Harry P Leu Gardens and enjoy a holiday light festival. This event ends on January 4th.

6. Now Snowing-Come to Celebration Florida’s town center to experience holiday lights and lots of “snow.” Yes it does snow in Orlando. (Actually it is snoap-i.e. soap flakes)
7. Wekiva Island’s Winter Wonderland- Enjoy the beautiful Wekiva park, (a local treasure) and experience the winter wonderland. As temperatures are dropping in Florida, maybe the manatees will return soon? Select dates (11/30-12/25)
8. Deck the Seas-Sea Life Orlando Aquarium is all decked out for the holiday season. Great attraction for kids! Beauty and learning combined.
9 Universal Studios- The holidays at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures include Harry Potter World decorated for the holidays. There are holiday shows, seasonal decor and a dazzling nighttime spectacular. Universal’s holiday parade features larger than life balloons. Don’t forget the music and fun of “Grinchmas” with the Grinch.
10. Walt Disney World-Every theme park and resort are decorated for the holidays. In addition, there are fireworks, sweet treats, and special castle stage shows. You can also meet characters dressed in their holiday finery and experience select rides with a holiday overlay (Jingle Cruise, instead of Jungle Cruise). There are special ticketed after hours events, “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party,” and “Jollywood Nights,” that are worth attending.
