Vero Beach Florida Beach Break
Recently Lenny and I visited Vero Beach for three days. When you are a Floridian who lives inland, this is known as a beach break. Having previously only spent a day at Vero Beach, we were excited to see all this charming beach town has to offer.
Unspoiled and uncrowded, Vero Beach looks like a postcard!
Vero Beach is a wonderful family beach located about 85 miles southeast of Orlando, and 65 miles north of West Palm Beach. This area of Florida is known as the Treasure Coast and also goes by the moniker, “ The Gateway to the Tropics.” Boasting 26 miles of uncrowded beaches, Vero is known for golf, shopping, water sports and its arts scene.
Beautiful waves on Vero Beach
First of all, the weather was sublime. High temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, slight southerly breezes and low humidity. The ocean temperature was in the mid 70s and felt refreshing, albeit a little cold when you first stepped in. We enjoyed playing in the waves and walking along the beach.
Costa d’Este Beach Report and Spa
There are multiple resorts with beach front access at Vero Beach. We stayed at the Costa d’este Beach Resort and Spa. The pool is beautiful, spa services are excellent, and the resort provides guests use of beach chairs and umbrellas included in your stay. Eating fresh seafood poolside is quite the treat, and we indulged.

The Ocean Grill Restaurant, located directly on Vero Beach is just a short walk from the hotel. This restaurant is awarded one of 15 best waterfront restaurants in Florida by USA Today. Originally an Officer’s Club, the Ocean Grill has a storied history that your servers are happy to share with you. Many vintage decorations and pictures are found here.
The Ocean Grill also has a gift shop with some unusual items. There are many shops located throughout Vero Beach. Much to Lenny’s chagrin, we spent an entire afternoon window shopping! In addition to the Wildwood Antique Mall and Vero Beach Outlets, there are many small shops located in this adorable beach town of approximately 16,000.
Overall, Vero Beach is a great place for a true Florida Beach break. Native Floridians and visitors will enjoy this charming beach town with great hotels, restaurants and shops and stunning uncrowded beaches.
